Diggitt McLaughlin

Diggitt McLaughlin leaves our Literature Club. She's going to University of Chicago to earn a masters degree in Divinity. Christine Lehner hosted a lovely party to say goodbye for the time being.
We're going to miss the heck out of Diggitt.

Clerihew Winners!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to our clever clerihew winners!!
There were so many superb entries that selecting prize winners was quite a challenge.

FIRST PLACE - Barbara Morrow

The lyrics of Lesbian Sappho
made all the girls tingle and gasp so
In Athens, sage Solon did cry,
"Let me learn her new song, and then die."

SECOND PLACE - Neil Golden

R. Buckminster Fuller
taken for a leg puller
spake the truth we ignore:
1 + 1 = 4.

THIRD PLACE - Gill Reavill

Jane Austen
wrote books we get lost in
When "Do you read novels?" I hear
I say, "All six, every year."

SPECIAL HONORABLE MENTION RECOGNITION
to the most witty international contestants for their prolific output of clerihew gems.

Ken Lovell of Tipton, West Midlands, England

Pamela RenaidellaRena of Florence, Italy

THANKS TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS FOR THE APT and AMUSING CLERIHEWS YOU SENT US.

Members and friends of the Literature Club of Hastings on Hudson toasted the club's 100th anniversary last night at Christine's house.
